DTLA Just Keeps Getting Better

Posted in Uncategorized

DTLA just keeps getting cooler and cooler! How do we know? WREN is in the thick of all the remarkable growth, which means we get to see the amazing developments with our very own eyes.

Of course, there’s no doubt that the foundation of this upward trajectory can be attributed to the ingenuity and initiative of Angelenos. A perfect example — ROW DTLA.

A Brief History Lesson

Picture it. It’s DTLA in 1901. The City purchases a lot on 7th and Central for the Hughes Market. The produce becomes so popular that expansion is necessary and The Los Angeles Market is born. Eventually recognizing a need to accommodate newfangled contraptions called automobiles, The Terminal Market is created.

Fast forward to the 1930s and the Market ends up among rows of industrial buildings and the Southern Pacific Railroad. Ultimately, it serves a massive amount of the country’s wholesale produce needs. (And, believe it or not, the district is still responsible for one percent of America’s produce).

Serving DTLA Today

Today, the Produce Market area has become a mammoth indoor/outdoor shopping, dining, and entertainment hub. A whopping 1.7 million square feet houses an eclectic mix of businesses, venues, and creative spaces – it’s everything awesome about DTLA in a nutshell. Here, you’ll find unique brands, eateries, workspaces, and art, as well as a gorgeous courtyard area and incredible rooftop views of downtown. Surprisingly, that’s not all. ROW DTLA also hosts various events through the year including a seasonal farmers market and the weekly Smorgasburg.

The Farmers Market

This place is so hip, even the Farmers Market has a cool name. Up until Fall, POP Produce (because it’s a pop-up market) will be occupying space along the shops and restaurants on Market Row. The event will occur on various Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. In addition to delectable produce and an array of food trucks, POP Produce will also feature DTLA DJs spinning tunes.

Smorgasburg LA

Smorgasburg LA occurs every Sunday in the same space as the Alameda Produce Market. There’s certainly no shortage of food vendors, craftsman, and merchants here. It has a wonderful street festival feel and caters to meat lovers and vegans alike. Not to mention, there’s live music and a beer garden! It’s open year-round and the hours are typically from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

DTLA always has something special, and it’s just getting better. When it comes to living here, we try to stand out as the premier luxury apartments. Everything we do stems from a bedrock philosophy called Thoughtful Living. This means that our residents’ needs and wants are what drives our community.
