April Is the Month of Festivals in DTLA

Let’s be honest – Los Angeles is pretty fantastic all the time. But, it’s true that certain times of the year offer up some added bonuses. Take April, for example – it’s a month chock full of some awesome music, art and food events! At WREN Apartments, we know that you’re probably looking for the best of the best. That’s why, we’ve researched all the LA festivals coming up this month, and we’ve found the ones that you absolutely must check out!

1. Los Angeles Beer Festival

Lucky for WREN residents, the LA Beer Festival is at the Los Angeles Center Studios. This is about 10 minutes from our DTLA apartments. General admission is only $45 and gets you unlimited tastes of more than 200 beers from 80 brewers. On April 8, you have the choice of a 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. or 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. session. There’s also live entertainment and food available for purchase, and all proceeds go to helping rescue animals… talk about an all around great time!

2. Broke LA Music + Arts Festival

Broke LA Music + Arts Festival

Formerly known as Brokechella, Broke LA Music + Arts Festival has a mission is to be one of the foremost affordable LA festivals. Every year, thousands of Los Angelenos hit up the Broke LA Festival to discover local musicians and artists. The event will be held in East L.A. and includes four stages boasting L.A.’s emerging talent.

3. When We Were Young Festival

When We Were Young Festival

When We Were Young is one of the LA festivals coming in with a nostalgic bang! It will headline many emo and punk bands that ruled the 1990s and 2000s. From April 8 – 9, the halls of the Santa Ana Observatory will be filled with the music of artists such as Morrissey, Taking Back Sunday and Silversun Pickups!

4. Montrose Food and Beer Festival

Montrose Food and Beer Festival

We at WREN fancy ourselves food and beer experts. It’s why we decided to include an on-site restaurant and tap room as one of the resident amenities in our DTLA apartments. When we heard that the Montrose Food and Beer Festival is an unlimited beer, food and coffee tasting event, we knew we were in love. Bring $35 and live the dream with us on April 9 from noon until 4 p.m.

5. Easter Fest

Easter Fest

It shouldn’t be too hard to convince your family that you should all spend Easter enjoying LA festivals. Easter Fest is chock full of activities including face painting, crafts and Easter egg hunts for the kids, and entertainment for you and the other grown-ups. All the fun happens at Grand Hope Park from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

6. Cowboy Festival

Cowboy Festival

Santa Clarita celebrates its rich Western history with the Cowboy Festival. From April 19 to 23, there tons of events, food, music and tours to experience, so start dusting off your boots and spurs now. The base admission price is at $10 for a single day, but there are actually many different ticket levels so make sure to check those out.

7. Cherry Blossom Festival

Not many LA festivals have been going as strong as the Cherry Blossom Festival. For 20 years, Los Angelenos have been immersing themselves in Japanese art and culture through food, crafts, music, dance and martial arts performances. Admission is free, and everything will be held at the City of Monterey Park from April 22 to 23.

8. Poppy Festival

Just in case you haven’t heard – California’s state flower is the poppy. And, to celebrate the arrival of the beautiful poppies, the City of Lancaster fills 55 acres of Sgt. Steve Owen Memorial Park with food, exhibits and entertainment. Poppy Festival tickets are only $10, and the celebration happens rain or shine on April 22 and 23.

9. Brentwood Art Festival

There are few LA festivals that allow you to get in touch with your inner art collector. Brentwood Art Festival occurs just a few miles west of WREN’s DTLA apartments and showcases more than 120 renowned artists. On April 30, between Barrington and Bundy, San Vicente Boulevard will be lined with one-of-a-kind art pieces and food trucks.
